Imagination Station

Get crafty with Etsy

Children seem inherently drawn to craftiness, which they express with crayons, construction paper, glitter, sidewalk chalk and, to the chagrin of their parents, red lipstick on a living room wall. As we age, as we're told to focus on supporting ourselves, some of us lose the confidence to give life to our imagination through art. Yet many of us remain furtive, thwarted crafters, with half-finished projects tucked in a closet. For the crafty who can overcome the ennui of adulthood, there is Etsy, an online marketplace of more than 90,000 artists. Twenty or so of those local artsy folk will offer their handmade goods at the Etsy Dallas Beer-B-Q, 1027 N. Windomere Ave., from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. There will also be free food, free beer, a Make-and-Take craft booth and music from DJ Modchap. Visit etsydallas.com.
