PET OWNERS BEWARE OF CITY VET!!!!Below is an email sent out to City Vet today:

Dear City Vet owners:

I just spent an alarming $500.00 on my dog, Buffy, for a superficial
injury (sore muscle) to her right paw. Not only was I talked into
unnessesary x-rays, but was given the drug Previcox to help cure/
alleviate Buffy's pulled muscle. Later that evening, I preceded to
give Buffy one pill of the Previcox with her normal treats and food.
The next day she suffered massive amounts of diarrhea and nausea.
So, later that day I took her into the city vet where she was put
into "hospitalization." I was told that the Previcox did not cause
the nausea and diarrhea, that it was the sedation for the x rays.
Whatever! After I took Buffy home the following day, I decided to do
some research of my own. I found several cases of Previcox causing
nausea and diarrhea symptoms and even death of dogs and cats who had
been prescribed the drug. FYI: listed below are two articles for

So, before you all at City Vet decide to prescribe this drug to
animals, maybe you should all be aware of the potential side effects
of Previcox, and fully disclose them to pet owners! Shame on you,
City Vet!

What's more, I have to say, that my overall experience at City Vet at
both locations (Oak Lawn and Uptown) have been extremely stressful
and expensive. Most of the vets I have dealt with have been
condescending toward me, and seem both very young and inexperienced.
The waiting area at both locations is equally chaotic and confusing,
with the staff being unable or unwilling to effectively communicate
with individual clients. The "doggie day care" is an absolute
nightmare, as I have had my other dog, Rufus, come home with scratch
and bite marks from other dogs.

Needless to say, I will NEVER step foot into ANY City VET location
EVER again! I will be leaving negative feedback on several websites
and search engines which ask for a review of your establishment.Sincerely,

owners have to pay for that BLATANT lie to be printed?

I agree w/ the negatives about CityVet. Waiting room stinks, I have to beg and for them to return anything I left for my dog when boarded there (several times), they didn't fax her rabies records to me for me to take her to get groomed, she had diarrhea 1x when boarding and that cost me $94 to treat (funny...it didn't go away for a week afterward...so their "treatment" stunk), and to top it off, HER exam showed that her TESTICLES were ok. Ummmm, she has testicles?

Cityvet is AWFUL - I pulled both my pets from there this past weekend - they are overcrowded, there "doggie daycare" is a bunch of 60 pound dogs shoved into a small room together - I reserved the "penthouse suite" - which on their website is dexcribed as "a fully furnished suite with plush bedding and toys, unlimited doggie daycare, unlimited webcam access..etc" Well when I ask to go back there and see where my dogs will be staying - I find a concrete room with a crappy bed thrown on the floor and a bowl of water. And Im paying $75 a day for what? So I left them becasue I thought well at least I have the webcam to watch them ( I never board my dogs so being able to watch them gave me some piece of mind) I was assured they left the lights on at night to view them on the webcam. Well about 8:30 pm on the first night - pitch black - no web cam.....the rest of the weekend - my dogs where not spotted in their "penthouse suite". I pick them up on Sunday and ask where my dogs stayed all weekend. I was told they were put into little small cages. Then she says " Did a doctor call you on saturday?" I said....nooooo?? Well apparently my dogs had a case of diarhhea - due to stress - so they decide to prescribe my dogs all this needless medicine and special food. Im like look - my dogs get very stressed -hence the reason I wanted them in a big, nice, room. Their website is COMPLETE FALSE ADVERTISING. Not to mention every time I take my dogs there they manage to tack on some additional charge for SOMETHING. Needless to say I pulled their records and will NEVER be going back there again.

I agree with what everyone is saying about City Vet. I used to take my dog there for daycare, but I'd never see him on the webcam. Then when I would go in to get him they would have a hard time finding him. Which is difficult to understand in such a small area. Finally I asked them about it one day and they told me his is an aggressive dog and spends most of his time there in "time-out". Why was this never brought up before. My dog is not at ALL aggressive and is a lab/poodle mix. I started taking him to WufSpa.com and have had the best experience ever! When I bring him in they really like him, and tell me so, plus I watch him play all day on there great webcam, and the people actually go out and play with your dog. He comes home worn out and tired, so my evenings are relaxing. I've asked if he is "aggresive" and they tell me not at all, and that they have no idea what city vet is talking about. Oh, plus he got kennel cough from city vet and then I had to pay $100 + for treatment. Avoid City Vet.. I take my dog to Holt Vet Clinic, and then to daycare at WufSpa.

Note to anyone looking for a great doggie daycare/boarding: CampBowwow on Irving Bld (just south of Downtown Dallas). Bowwow is very clean and very organized and the staff is great. Check out the web site. Everything it says is true. Boarding our dogs was something we had never done until we found CampBowWow. The playtimes are supervised and the dogs are divided by activity level/size. Each play area has both indoor and outdoor access. Also, they won't accept any dog who can't pass a socilization test so you don't have to worry about your dog being injured, etc. Did I mention how clean it is?

Great Vet south of the Trinity river: DeSoto Animal Hospital in DeSoto on Hampton. It is worth the drive. The Medical Director Dr Tabone is as sharp as they come but all the vets there are good. They have evening and regular Saturday hours - very convenient. We\'ve seen all the doctors at one time or another and liked each of them. Besides routine visits, we have had to use them for emergencies several times, as well as management of terminal illness and we have been very pleased. Most importantly they seem to really care about their animal clients.

I will never use City Vet again! I used to have my 2 Scotties' teeth cleaned by them annually. The last experience was a nightmare! They gave too much anasthesia & drugs to the younger, smaller Scottie; then called me up to tell me her heart had stopped, but they got it going again. I went in there with my lawyer, and asked to see what drugs they gave her for the teeth cleaning. We asked why they had given such excessive drugs to a well-maintained animal. Now she was on an IV! After charging me full price for the botch-up & subsequent fixes, they had me take her to the overnight Eclinic at Travis on Fitzhugh. The EClinic staff watched her all night on IV's (expensive, but worth every penny, however this should have been CityVet's bill!) The next morning of a sleepless night, Eclinic recommended I take her back to City Vet in case she has a heart defect. NEVER! I told them I had a healthy dog before all this. It has been one and a half years since this incident, and I still have a happy, healthy dog. If they had killed my dog, they would have had a lawsuit on their hands. In any case, it is bad practice, to make clients pay for such huge mistakes. I am now afraid to ever get my dogs teeth cleaned again. They chew alot of natural teeth cleaners.

Really sad to see a good vet gone so bad!
I just got a new puppy from a shelter and took her in for a checkup. When the guy at the desk called the shelter's vet and couldn't find her records in 2 seconds, instead of asking me for more information to get the records, they just decided that she had none. They didn't tell me this and proceeded to administer another set of puppy vaccinations AND told me to come in 2 wks from now for another set. I went home and researched and found that my poor puppy's immune system has now been compromised by an extra set of shots...and $200 for me!
FIND ANOTHER VET! Cityvet is no longer a safe place for your animals or your checkbook!
